UTEP’s History
UTEP grew from MAT-3, Inc., a utility vehicle engineering and manufacturing company co-founded by John Malker in 1992. UTEP teamed up with Eastgate Service in 2014 and together they have contributed the knowledge, expertise and culture of service that has built the businesses to what they are today.
About John Mlaker, Director of Engineering at UTEP
John Mlaker, director of engineering at UTEP, has more than 35 years of experience in the aerial lift industry. He has a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural Engineering Major from Purdue University in addition to technical training in hydraulic fluid power system design and engineering mechanics for machine design. Previously, John worked as chief design engineer at Stapel Engineering, a consulting engineering firm; chief design engineer at Hi-Ranger Inc.; and was the vice president of engineering for MAT-3, Inc. About Eastgate Service, LLC
Eastgate Service, LLC is an aerial device service and repair organization operated by Randy Blehovde. The company, formerly Total Fleet Maintenance LLC has been in business since 2011. Before that, Randy both worked as service manager for the Penske Utility Rental fleet. Randy has been working in the bucket truck service field since 1992. He have received training in bucket truck repair from many of the top aerial device manufacturers.
